The Value of a League Commissioner

A good League Commissioner can make all the difference in a player’s league experience and their decision to return.

Our mobile technology helped us launch leagues remotely, but our Commissioners were a huge reason for their longevity.

What is a Commissioner and why should your league have one?

The Commissioner sets the tone for your league and serves as the authority and presence in the room.

A good Commissioner can make all the difference in a player’s league experience and their decision to return.

1. Welcoming

For a new player, knowing where to go and who to talk to impacts their first impression of a league. This experience, throughout the season, can influence their decision to return. The Commissioner sets the tone for your league by greeting players, managing onsite staff, and answering any questions.

Empower them with AREENA’s communication tools to welcome and prepare teams before they even arrive.

2. Attendance

For a player, nothing is worse than arriving at the game only to realize their opponent forfeited or there aren’t enough referees to officiate the game. The Commissioner is in charge of ensuring teams and staff attend.

Empower them with AREENA’s Match Day Manager to do this task seamlessly.

3. Behavior

It’s inevitable that there will be some bad sportsmanship in competitive recreational leagues. What can be controlled is whether that behavior is allowed to continue. The Commissioner has the authority to handle these situations in person.

Empower them with AREENA’s Dashboard to facilitate these tough conversations in a data-backed way.
